FALLBROOK – Santa Margarita District is proud to announce that two young men from Fallbrook have recently earned their Boy Scout Eagle Awards.
Sho Adachi, 18, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 737 and his scoutmaster is Chuck Reeder.
A Fallbrook High School senior, Adachi has earned 22 merit badges with lifesaving being his favorite to earn because it was fun and taught him things that will come in handy in his life. Adachi is also a Boy Scout Japanese interpreter and won the summer camp triathlon. He names his parents as the most influential persons to help him earn his Eagle rank.
“My parents pushed me to keep at it and helped create my attitude of never quitting,” said Adachi.
Adachi’s Eagle Leadership project was held at the Reche School House Fallbrook where he installed benches, a pond, retaining wall and a walkway.
Donoghue, 18, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 731, and his scoutmaster is Mike McGurk. A senior at Fallbrook High School, Donoghue earned 26 merit badges and counts the aviation merit badge as his favorite because flying is a dream and a passion.
Donoghue said the most influential person in his scouting career was Mike Bailey, a leader in his troop.
“Mr. Bailey was always very knowledgeable and supportive. Sadly, he passed away suddenly last month and that is a terrible loss to our scouting community,” said Donoghue
Andrew’s project was to install a flag pole and informational kiosk at the Rainbow Valley Grange hall. Andrew said, “The best part of my Eagle Project was the enthusiasm of the Grange on my proposal of my project.”
