Why are the ratepayers always wrong?

Living in Southern California since 1957, I have been a water customer in five different districts and never a quarrel with any of them until I arrived in Fallbrook.

The notice/paid ad from FPUD in the Feb. 2, 2011 edition of the Village News chastised Archie McPhee, the newest board member because he didn’t agree with their spending policies. Mr. McPhee is trying to get FPUD administration to demonstrate some financial responsibility to the ratepayers. Go for it, Archie, you are on the right track!

I feel that the ratepayers have been overcharged for years so that the administration could get huge salaries that are inappropriate for a local, rural water district.

Now, my neighbor tells me that when he visited FPUD to pay his bill his attention was called to the fact that the front office now has bullet proof glass. How much did all this cost? The office attendant said they had been robbed but don’t they collect most of their revenue in checks (and not cash)?

I have never before run across a business like FPUD, who is always “right” while the ratepayers are always “wrong” or “mistaken.” What ever happened to “the customer is always right?”
