A 72-year-old man was killed and his 73-year-old female passenger seriously injured when the vehicle he was driving veered off South Mission Road south of Big Oak Ranch Ranch at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 20.
Witnesses in the area said they saw the vehicle slow down and veer off the roadway prior to striking a tree. Eric Newbury, public information officer for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said it appears a medical condition may have caused the man to lose control of the vehicle.
