BONSALL – In Sacramento, Bonsall Union School District governance leaders took center stage at the California Middle Grades Alliance annual convention and were recognized for their outstanding support of middle grades education at Sullivan Middle School.
On behalf of Tom Torlakson, state superintendent of public instruction, recognition award plaques were presented to the board of trustees of the Bonsall Union School District president Lou Riddle, board member Dr. Richard Smith, and superintendent, Dr. Justin Cunningham for sustaining a middle grades vision for focused learning, continuous improvement, and closing the achievement gap for all of California’s middle grade students.
The California Middle Grades Alliance selected these outstanding individuals and groups based on effectively working together and using the California Department of Education’s “12 Recommendations for Middle Grades Success” to ensure high performance and close the achievement gap for all their middle grades students.
The California Middle Grades Alliance is comprised of a broad spectrum of organizations such as the California Department of Education, the California School Boards Association, California State Parent Teacher Association, and Schools To Watch.
