FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Street School held its first art show during its open house on April 12. Forty-eight art works were selected and matted for display by the Fallbrook Art Association Art Assist volunteer teachers.
Five students had their artwork selected for awards. The students are Denise Sanchez, Best Use of Color; Danny Macias, Best Texture; Manny Chavez, Best Drawing; Celso Victoriano, Best Positive/Negative Space; and Omar Diaz, Most Creative. The criteria for the awards were based on the use of art and design principles. Sets of watercolor paints, donated by Jack Richeson & Co, were given to the winning students.
Volunteer artists from the Fallbrook Art Association staff the Art Assist Program, with teams of two or three volunteers providing art instruction in watercolor resist, oil pastel, collage, stamping techniques, and drawing to 10 classes at the Fallbrook Street School.
Upcoming shows of children’s artwork from both Fallbrook Street and Mary Fay Pendleton schools will be held during the month of May in the children’s section of the Fallbrook Library.
