FALLBROOK – It’s been said that many hands make light work – one of the many reasons that volunteers are a valued part of Fallbrook Hospital. Volunteers are integral to Fallbrook Hospital’s commitment to the community, by supporting the hospital’s mission of providing comprehensive care – physical, emotional and spiritual – to the residents of the Fallbrook community.
During National Volunteer Week, Fallbrook Hospital recognized the many contributions that these important individuals make, year-round, improving the lives of others around them through their incredible spirit of giving.
The volunteers provide service in many areas within the hospital including the gift shop, information desk, cardiac rehab and medical/surgical departments, and also operate a free courier service to enable residents to travel to/from their healthcare related appointments. Gift shop proceeds and monies raised from their fundraisers are used to fund scholarships which are awarded annually to local students studying for healthcare occupations.
During 2010 alone, volunteers provided 22,016 hours of service to Fallbrook Hospital. In 2009, the Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary celebrated its 50th anniversary and the volunteers have donated over one million hours since its inception. A strong base of volunteers is essential to a community hospital.
“Fallbrook Hospital is fortunate to have the active involvement of more than 140 caring, generous individuals from the Fallbrook community who lend their time and talents to enrich the lives of others,” said Fallbrook Hospital CEO Alex Villa.
