What Caltrans fails to tell you about the SR76 Eastern section expansion is the following:

Based on Table 4.7-1 of their DEIR, should Caltrans select the Existing Alignment Alternative in place of the Southern Alignment Alternative, by the year 2030, 35,810 gallons of fuel per day would be wasted (as per the Efficiency Fuel Savings column of their Table 4.7-1.) This wasted fuel would generate 290 tons of additional carbon dioxide pollutants per day into the environment.
