New case of pertussis reported in Fallbrook

SAN DIEGO COUNTY – On May 4, two new pertussis cases where there is a potential for public exposure to the highly contagious disease were reported, including an 11-year-old who was due for a booster shot and attends La Paloma Elementary School in Fallbrook according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.

The other new case was a 12-year-old who was not up-to-date on immunizations and attends Roosevelt Middle School in the San Diego Unified School District. This brings the number of whooping cough cases in the county this year to 192.
