Woman located after alleged abduction of 2-year-old boy

PALM SPRINGS - A woman was located by police two hours after she abducted her 2-year-old son at knifepoint in Palm Springs, police said.

The woman was located by Cathedral City police in that city and Palm Springs investigators were en route to another location to check on the child, Palm Springs police Officer Rhonda Long said.

''From the call, it says the child is OK, but we won't know until we see him and touch him,'' she said.

Johnny Jacob Gonzalez was taken around 11:30 a.m. from 2611 Linden Way, authorities said, prompting a statewide missing-child alert.
