FALLBROOK – National Charity League, San Luis Rey Chapter held its annual awards and senior presentation event the third week of May at the Grand Tradition. The philanthropic organization, comprised of mothers (Patronesses) and daughters (Ticktockers) serves the community with volunteer hours and fundraising endeavors for worthy causes.
Graduating senior Ticktockers received numerous awards at this year’s event for the hours they served the community during the 2010-2011 school year.
The gala evening included a fashion show by the graduating seniors that showcased fashions in three themes – ‘Back in Black,’ ‘Endless Summer,’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle.’
Sandra McGoldrick, Sharon Callahan, Carla Strickfaden, and Barbara Speck were instrumental in the evening’s success from an organization standpoint.
Lila MacDonald served as the honorary mistress of ceremonies and introduced the senior Ticktockers who were wearing white formal gowns and escorted by their fathers for the event. A short video montage was shown during each senior’s introduction along with an audio recording of the Ticktocker telling her fondest memories of being part of the organization.
“Each girl presented a yellow rose to her mother, and each mother gave her daughter a National Charity League charm in return, representing the mother-daughter bond that has been strengthened through their years of working together in our philanthropic organization,” said Martha Garcia.
