Fallbrook field hockey is threatened

Fallbrook High used to be able to boast of an open campus, nationally recognized Homecoming floats, and an exceptional girls’ field hockey team. The open campus and floats are a thing of the past, and this year, field hockey is threatened by the elimination of Coach Kathy Waite’s teaching position. Hers was the only teaching position at FUHS associated with a girls’ varsity sport. The boys’ varsity sports have six coaches on staff. The new coach’s salary as a teacher would be half of Kathy’s, so the savings to the district is relatively insignificant.
