BONSALL – On May 25, Sullivan Middle School sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students participated in Career Day 2011 hosted by principal Janet Whiddon. The students were able to choose three career speakers to listen to from a list of 30 professions.
A large number of community members participated in the event that was coordinated by Mary Thurlow, Lana Massimini, and PTSA President Kristi Kehl.
The impressive list of professionals included: aerospace physicist Mark Branham; Palomar Observatory astronomy docent Steve Flanders; trust and estate attorney Andrea Aston; Palomar College aviation management program advisor Richard Jennings; computer software engineer Arie Trouw; dentist Dr. Charles Drury; dental assistant Debi Denton; designer Tonya Orlando; special agent recruiter FBI Yolanda Loya; film producer Nick Thurlow; financial advisor Bob Tavano; wealth management banker Brian Gemell; fire captain Jerry Abshier; salon owner Brad Wood; insurance agent Tom Logue; Lean Manufacturing executive Katherine Hunter; US Marine Corps Sgt. John Paat; US Navy MMI Rodney Williams; musician Dave Blackburn; Palomar Native American Club representatives Chris and Linda Nieto and members; photojournalist Nick Morris; physicist research assistant Melinda Lopez; police academy director Shannon Dreyer; psychotherapist Joni Branham; real estate agent Sharon Robinson; Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Cahill; newspaper staff writer Morgan Cook; surgical technician Corina Espino; teacher Laura Bridgeman; flight trauma nurse Robert Curnow; and veterinarian Court Cramer.
The professionals were treated to a buffet breakfast sponsored by the PTSA hospitality committee led by Shannon Rumsey and Anne Trouw.
