Fifteen percent of eligible residents not utilizing SDG&E's CARE program

SAN DIEGO – Research by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has determined that approximately 15 percent of customers eligible for the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program, which offers significant monthly savings in utility costs, are not currently enrolled. These customers are eligible for up to a 35 percent discount on their monthly bills.

Throughout the service territory there are 300,424 residents enrolled in the program; 55,000 more are eligible but not enrolled.
