Supervisors approve helicopter maintenance and training contracts

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors authorized sole-source contracts for maintenance and training needs of the Sheriff’s Department helicopters.

The supervisors’ 5-0 vote June 14 authorizes sole-source procurement of parts, equipment, service, and training from Bell Helicopter, MD Helicopter, the Civil Aerospace Division of Rolls Royce, or from authorized distributors and service centers. The contract for helicopter pilot certifications and training is for a five-year period and the sole-source purchase authorizations are for the useful life of the helicopters.
