RIVERSIDE - The wife of a former San Jacinto city councilman at the center of a multi-defendant campaign fraud case was facing a possible jail term and fines after pleading guilty to a felony.
Nancy Jo Ayres, 46, a former San Jacinto School Board member, admitted falsifying 2008 statement by failing to report a $14,000 campaign contribution from the San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce. She is one of nine people implicated in a money laundering conspiracy tied to her husband's failed bid in 2006 to win the Republican nomination for the 65th Assembly District seat.
