Firefighters have gained control of a brush fire that erupted about 2 p.m. on Olive Hill Road at Harmony Hill.
"We have determined [the fire] was caused by a homeowner mowing weeds," said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County Fire. "While we love it when residents mow and clear weeds from their property for fire prevention purposes, it needs to be done in the early morning hours when the temperature is lower and the humidity factor is higher."
Buchanan said the exact amount of acreage involved has not been calculated yet, but appears to be between three and four acres.
