SAN DIEGO - Authorities released the name today of a 22-year-old Marine killed last week in a North County motorcycle crash.
David Gainey of Temecula was riding to the east at high speed in the 2000 block of East Mission Road in Fallbrook when he lost control of his 2006 Kawasaki shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the county Medical
Examiner's Office.
Gainey died at the scene of the accident.

Medical Examiner says Marine from Temecula killed in motorcycle accident on E. Mission Rd. was intoxicated
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has reported that the 22-year-old active duty Marine killed in a motorcycle accident on East Mission Road in Fallbrook July 6 was alcohol-intoxicated.
The Marine's identity still has not been released to the media.
The Marine was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on East Mission Road at approximately 5:47 p.m. that day when he failed to negotiate a slight curve in the road and collided head-on with a tree.
The man, who was reportedly residing in Temecula, suffered multiple traumatic injuries to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers.
California Highway Patrol officer Chris Parent said the 22-year-old man was weaving his motorcycle in and out of traffic prior to the accident.
"Witnesses say he was going approximately 60 MPH," said Parent.

A 22-year-old Marine based out of Temecula was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran head-on into a tree off of E. Mission Road on Wednesday, July 6, at approximately 5:47 p.m.
According to California Highway Patrol officer Chris Parent, the 22-year-old white male was weaving his motorcycle in and out of traffic while heading eastbound on E. Mission when he came to a left-turning curve west of Stage Coach Lane and lost control of his motorcycle.
"Witnesses say he was going approximately 60 MPH," said Parent.
At 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, traffic was cleared, and the San Diego County Medical Examiner was at the scene gathering evidence. The name of the individual has not been released, pending notification of family members.
