Club members raise funds with Pretty in Pink picnic

RAINBOW – Pretty in Pink was the theme for a picnic fundraiser held by Hulda Garborg Lodge # 49 on July 9. In lieu of their monthly meeting, 20 daughters of Norway and one guest gathered at Janna Armbruster’s home in Fallbrook for some fun and food.

To go with the theme, attendees were asked to decorate lampshades to wear as hats. Armbruster, the group’s vice-president and membership chair, said, “Our hats were not to be out done. The originality and spirit of joy each hat displayed was something else. I don’t think there was a shade of pink left out of the palette.” She added that the guests’ outfits also represented every shade of pink at the party.

Refreshments included pink lemonade, and lunch was served in pink pastry boxes on bright pink tablecloths. Julie Watts and Lynne LeeJoice helped Armbruster with the food and decorations. Five prizes were also donated for a raffle. All proceeds went to the lodge which raises funds for charitable donations, cultural programs and convention delegate expenses.
