The Fallbrook Associated Swim Team (FAST) hosted a 12-and-over no time standard meet July 8 through 10 at Fallbrook High School which drew approximately 250 swimmers from throughout Southern California.
The events included seven which were won by Fallbrook 14-year-old Bobby Guerra and one in which 16-year-old Sam McDaniels of Fallbrook took first place. “Everybody that swam in it had probably 50 percent best times, so it’s showing improvement,” said FAST director Sean Redmond.
FAST had 11 swimmers in the meet. “I was impressed with the number of swims we had best times,” Redmond said.
Guerra won the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard butterfly, and 200-yard butterfly events. McDaniels was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley.
The meet was also the final opportunity for 13-and-over swimmers to qualify for the Junior Olympics which will be held July 28 to 31 at Coronado High School.
Thirteen-year-old FAST swimmer Victor Camacho earned his first qualifying time ever in an individual event and will compete in the 50-yard freestyle race at the Junior Olympics.
