Airpark Advisory Committee likes FSA proposal for synthetic turf

The Fallbrook Sports Association has plans to install synthetic turf at one of the Fallbrook Sports Park fields, and since the sports park is on Fallbrook Community Airpark property, Fallbrook Sports Association field manager John Stoltz appeared before the Fallbrook Airpark Advisory Committee during the advisory committee’s Aug. 1 meeting.

“They are interested in putting in some artificial turf on their sports field,” said Lee Ann Lardy, the County Airports project manager for airport properties. “He just wanted the committee to be aware, and they all had positive comments.”

The Fallbrook Sports Association has targeted the #3 soccer field for turf installation. The estimated $425,000-$525,000 cost would be borne by the Fallbrook Sports Association’s donors. “When they get ready to actually do it, they’ll have to submit plans to the airport and we’ll have to approve them,” Lardy said.

Although such approval would be contingent upon specifics and any issues involved with those specifics, County Airports doesn’t oppose the concept of converting grass to synthetic turf. “We’re supportive of water conservation,” Lardy said.
