FALLBROOK – GANAS Mentoring Group would like to invite anyone interested in becoming a mentor to a coffee meet-up on Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Fallbrook Coffee Co., 622 S. Mission. This will provide a chance to talk with current mentors about the program.
Groups meet at different locations in Fallbrook, after school, once a week during the school year. They are composed of about 10 students, ages 9 to 14 years old. The GANAS goals and objectives are to give students, “mentees,” a place to share “good news, bad news,” fun with different activities that encourage school achievement, and the desire to make good choices in life.
Four mentors are needed at each site so that there is more one-on-one contact. Current mentors feel it is a personally rewarding experience to be a mentor. Volunteer mentors go through training and fingerprinting. For information, call Carol Krantz at (760) 645-3241.
