During the week of Aug. 15, I received an email from one of the banking institutions that I have a credit card with, asking me to respond to their inquiry or I would lose my online banking privileges and more. Something was strange about this email, so I put off responding until later that day when I called the phone number on my credit card instead of answering the email.
The email was not from my bank; the email was a fraud – someone trying to get entry into my account. Be aware of emails that claim they are from banking institutions, charities, and your credit card companies – call and verify authenticity before you give out any information.
