Murphy scores four runs in first post-season college game

In Sam Murphy’s first post-season college game, the 2009 Fallbrook High School graduate scored four runs.

Murphy’s runs contributed to Azusa Pacific University’s 15-7 victory over California Baptist to open the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament for the Cougars. The game was played May 3 in Riverside.

“I didn’t even realize how many I scored,” Murphy said. “It was great. They started their ace and he was the conference pitcher of the year. No one really expected us to really do anything in the tournament, and to come out and beat the number one seed in the first game of the tournament...
