Reche Road repaving due to FPUD water pipeline break to take place Mon., Sept. 19 through Wed., Sept. 21

The temporary surface patch that has existed on 500 feet of eastbound Reche Road near Stage Coach Lane, following a water pipeline break, will be replaced with new asphalt beginning Monday, Sept. 19, said a Fallbrook Public Utility District management official.

"We have a contractor that will begin the repaving project on Monday (Sept. 19) and the work is expected to be completed by sometime Wednesday (Sept. 21)," said FPUD operations manager David Horn.

The temporary patch has been a rough ride for motorists after an 8-inch FPUD water line broke on August 19 causing significant sub-surface damage to the roadway.

Horn said during the repaving project, the roadway will be reduced to one lane at times with flag people directing traffic

"They don't have any choice because the repaving not only involves the eastbound lane but into the center turn lane as well," said Horn.

Horn said it is understood that traffic is heavy on Reche Road due to both Potter Jr. High School and Live Oak School, and recommends that parents try to make special arrangements on those days to help reduce the number of vehicles traveling the roadway and minimize traffic impact.

"It would be great if people could get together and do some carpools if possible," said Horn. "It would also be best, if possible on those days, if students could ride the school buses if possible versus being taken by car to school. It would really help alleviate traffic."

Horn said work crews will be at the location from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each of those days.

Potter Jr. High School, Horn said, has indicated they will do a dial-out to parents about the traffic impact due to the road construction project.
