While remembrance ceremonies took place all over the nation to honor those whose lives were lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, former Fallbrook resident Cheryl McGuinness, the wife of American Airlines pilot Tom McGuinness (whose plane was the first to be hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center), has been an inspiration to others.
œIt has been ten years now, and I thank God that He's brought us into a whole new season, said Cheryl McGuinness. œThe Lord was faithful to heal us and take us into this season where Tom is sewn into the very fabric of our lives.
McGuinness acknowledged that the 9/11 remembrances always make for a œhard week.
œIt's personal and brings everything forward again, she said. œThe anniversary is so public and the interviews make it more difficult.
Cheryl and Tom's son, Tom Jr., followed in the footsteps of his father and is now a commercial airline pilot, flying for American Eagle.
Daughter Jennifer followed in her mom and dad's footsteps by marrying her high school sweetheart five years ago. Jennifer is an esthetician.
Cheryl has gone through a journey that has resulted in remarriage after meeting someone in New Hampshire, where she now resides.
While many that were closely affected by the 9/11 tragedy have found different ways to heal, Cheryl McGuinness has chosen to travel as a national speaker, sharing her experiences and her Faith through her ministry and book œBeauty from the Ashes: choosing Hope after Crisis.
After ten years of working through the pain of losing Tom, she is now ministering to women by teaching them to rise above their circumstances and reminding them that humans are changed through life's transitions.
