FALLBROOK – For 20 years the Fallbrook Food Pantry has worked to relieve hunger and provide hope and resources to neighbors in need.
It is the largest agency of its kind in the unincorporated areas of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow, De Luz and Pala. To commemorate this 20-year milestone, members of the Fallbrook community are invited to an open house and reception on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the pantry, located at 1042 South Mission Road.
Thanks to the support of the community, the pantry is able to provide food to 500 to 600 families each week. All clients served by the pantry live on poverty level incomes as determined by federal guidelines.
One hundred percent of the pantry’s operation expenses are covered by grants and financial donations from individuals, churches, organizations, and businesses. The pantry has only one part-time employee and all other positions are filled by between 50 and 60 regular volunteers.
Food pantry board president Arnie Willcuts and fellow board members invite members of the public to the celebration and will provide information at the event on how the facility works to help the community.
