I would suggest that someone help the county, or anyone else wishing for a flagpole, to shop online for an American-made flagpole. There are many available, in heights over 40 and 50 feet for far less than $7,000 as mentioned in this story.

And I applaud all those who contributed to acquiring enough funds to complete the project...

I know that I don’t know all the facts about how tall of a flagpole we need or want, and whether it is to have internal cabling or not, but I’m sure the original estimate of $10,000 was ludicrous, and maybe the $7,000 is way too high, but who knows?
