Lt. Cmdr. Georgina Zunega is a Fallbrook native who is currently serving as the deputy group surgeon and emergency room nurse with the 1st Marine Logistics Group. In San Francisco at the city’s Fleet Week which began Oct. 8, Zunega helped explain to San Franciscans what type of equipment the Marine Corps uses in humanitarian aid and disaster response situations.
Lance Cpl. Timothy Lenzo wrote a piece about Zunega and her counterparts’ experiences and mission for military publication.
