Prosecution Rests in Trial of Man Accused of Killing, Dismembering Teen

MURRIETA - The prosecution rested today in the trial of a young man accused of shooting a 17-year-old Hemet boy in the head, then dismembering and torching his remains.

Jose Manual Campos, 19, could face 50 years to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder, as well as gun and great bodily injury allegations, in the Nov. 15, 2009, death of Adrian Rios.

After nearly a week of testimony, Riverside County Deputy District Attorney called his final witness in the case. The defense is slated to begin presenting evidence Monday, when Campos is expected to take the stand.
