Local pickleball players host Senior Olympics

FALLBROOK – Local pickleball players just completed their sixth year of hosting San Diego Senior Olympics for their sport at Melba Bishop Community Center in Oceanside. “We had 155 athletes compete during the four-day tournament and awarded 190 medals,” said Randy Narramore, pickleball commissioner. Players came from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Utah and all over California.

The game of pickleball has exploded in Southern California and the two main local venues, Melba Bishop Community Center and Castle Creek Resort, have become a destination for many pickleball players during their travels. The local North County Picklers have grown so that play is available at multiple locations throughout San Diego County each day.

Local athletes who won gold medals are:
