Missing girls found unharmed

LA QUINTA - Deputies located two La Quinta girls who had been reported missing by their parents on Thursday, the sheriff's department said today.

Officers found Daniela Botero Moya, 17, and Brooke Melody Leon, 15, unharmed in Indio on Saturday at about 8:30 p.m., according to La Quinta police Lt. Jason Huskey.

''Investigators determined criminal activity was not a factor in the juveniles' disappearance,'' Huskey said. ''Both juveniles were reunited with their parents.''

Huskey did not give further information about why the girls were missing.

The two had not been seen since about 10:20 a.m. Thursday at Summit High School in La Quinta. Their parents reported them missing later that day, Huskey said.

Parents report two juvenile girls missing

LA QUINTA - Authorities sought the public's help today in finding two teenage girls last seen together at school.

Daniela Botero Moya, 17, and Brooke Melody Leon, 15, haven't been seen since around 10:20 a.m. Thursday at Summit High School in La Quinta. Their parents reported them missing later that day, La Quinta police Lt. Jason Huskey said.

Moya is 5-foot-1, weighs 88 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing gray shorts, a white T-shirt, a gray hooded jacket and slippers.

Leon is 5-foot-7, weighs 180 pounds and has blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweater, Huskey said.
