Riverside County's Jobless Rate Falls to 14 Percent

RIVERSIDE - Riverside County's unemployment rate dropped slightly - - to 14 percent -- last month on the heels of gains throughout all but a few sectors of the regional economy, state officials reported today.

The county's non-seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in September, based on preliminary estimates, was six-tenths of a percentage point lower than in August, according to the California Economic Development Department.

The September figure was one percentage point below a year ago, when unemployment stood at 15 percent.
