MURRIETA - A parolee who allegedly fought with security guards outside a Murrieta hospital when they caught him siphoning gasoline from cars was being held without bail today.
Elias Gabrielle Adamakis, 26, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of robbery, battery, tampering with a vehicle and parole violations.
According to Murrieta police Sgt. Don Weller, guards at Loma Linda University Hospital, located at 28062 Baxter Road, spotted Adamakis around 2 p.m. allegedly siphoning gas from vehicles parked in the main lot.
Weller said hospital personnel recognized the suspect from two prior fuel thefts at the location. This time, guards were able to grab him before he ran away, the sergeant said.
''Investigation revealed the security officers struggled, wrestled and physically restrained the 26-year-old Murrieta resident,'' Weller said.
No injuries were reported.
Adamakis was turned over to Murrieta police officers moments after he was corralled.
The suspect was on parole for a prior theft conviction.
