Rainbow Planning Group voices concerns over SDGE shutoff plan and those who rely on electric medical equipment

The Rainbow Planning Group board voiced its concerns regarding San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDGE) operating procedures during extreme weather.

According to Stephanie Donovan, senior communications manager for SDGE, SDG&E proposed (in 2008) an “Emergency Power Shut-Off” plan that included very specific weather-related triggers, as well as extensive community outreach and assistance for customers in the event of an outage similar to those caused by the 2007 wildfires. The plan was rejected by the CPUC in September 2009.
