Vallecitos School District elects new trustee

The Vallecitos School District board of trustees has welcomed Dana Sanchez to take a seat on its board of trustees.

Sanchez was sworn into the role on Sept. 28, and took her place on the board during a district meeting on Oct. 11.

“It was a lot of information, and a very long meeting, but I am really excited,” said Sanchez.

An office manager and bookkeeper working within the Fallbrook and Rainbow community, Sanchez has recently served with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for the Vallecitos District.

“This year, I was elected as the president for the PTO, and I have a huge desire to serve in the community where we live,” said Sanchez.

“That’s why I applied for a board position.”

Sanchez and her husband have lived in Rainbow for six years, and have two children that are currently attending school at Vallecitos. They have one more child who will begin preschool next year.

“I really hope to gain the trust of the community,” said Sanchez. “I want to see our community unite.”

As member of the PTO, Sanchez has had an active part in seeing the district’s innermost workings, and has several plans that she hopes to see come to fruition.

“[Sanchez] was elected by the parent community to be the PTO president, which indicates that the community really does support her and value her as a person,” said David Jones, Vallecitos district superintendent. “She is a very genuine and caring person.”

“The district has some great projects for the community, for children and for the families in the community,” said Sanchez. “The board is very open to new ideas, and we want to be welcoming [to new ideas]. We want to communicate well with everyone and move forward.”

“I’m so honored that I have been greeted with welcoming arms by the PTO board and the trustees,” said Sanchez. “I feel privileged.”

“[Sanchez] has a history of being the type of person who likes to serve the people in her church community and the people in the community she lives in,” said Jones. “It’s clearly not about her; she wants to serve and support the children and families in the district. I think she will do very, very well.”
