CIF approves section girls wrestling championship

The California Interscholastic Federation had its first girls wrestling state championship tournament in 2011, and on October 25 the CIF San Diego Section’s Board of Managers approved a championship tournament for the San Diego Section.

“I’m glad they finally did it,” said Fallbrook High School varsity wrestling coach Greg Wagaman. “It just elevates the level of competition.”

The 2012 tournament will determine official girls wrestling section champions for each of the 14 weight divisions along with a team champion, although this year’s top San Diego Section wrestlers will still need to travel...
