VISTA (Wire Service) - A Fallbrook man who set fire to his own home following a drunken argument with his wife is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. in Vista Superior Court today, Wed., Nov. 9.
Jade Antoine Taylor, 27, pleaded guilty last month to an arson charge and agreed to a three-year prison sentence.
Authorities said the fire was intentionally set about 10:40 p.m. on June 5. By the time firefighters arrived, the mostly wooden two-story home was fully engulfed, but the fire was contained before it could spread to other
structures.
Taylor's wife told sheriff's deputies that her husband had been loud and belligerent toward her before the fire, prompting her to leave with her children. Taylor then called her to say he had set fire to their house and was
arrested in the area a short time later.
A sheriff's investigator testified at a preliminary hearing in August that Taylor told authorities that the fire started accidentally when he used a lighter's flame to search for his cigarettes after spilling vodka on the carpet.
