Search Under Way for Suspect Who Raped Riverside Teen

RIVERSIDE - Authorities sought the public's help today to identify a man who raped a Riverside teenager in her car after threatening her with a handgun.

The attack happened Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Potomac and Lillian streets, according to Riverside police Sgt. Wayne Ramaekers.

He said a 17-year-old girl driving through the area was stopped by a man brandishing a handgun. The suspect got into the victim's car, raped her and fled, the sergeant said.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned Hispanic man, 35 to 40 years old, with blotchy white spots on his neck and arms, as well as his forehead. He was about 5-foot-8 with a skinny build and dark brown hair worn in a buzz cut, wearing a baggy T-shirt and dark pants.
