On Tuesday, November 8, the San Marcos Knights visited the Fallbrook varsity field hockey team for the final game of the regular season. Playing in front of a large crowd, the Warriors did not disappoint. Fallbrook dominated the Knights, 9-0, to celebrate senior night.

Just three minutes into the match, Fallbrook’s Chelsea Moore scored the first goal, providing the Warriors with an early lead. Fallbrook never looked back. A flurry of goals ensued as Molly Throop, Jamie Garcia, Lizzy Hutzler, and Caroline Bishop all scored before halftime. The Knights trailed, 5-0.

Fallbrook’s offense was remarkable in controlling the tempo in the first half. Meanwhile, the defense was outstanding as the ball seldom crossed the midfield line. The Warriors had ten shots-on-goal compared to San Marcos’ one.

The onslaught continued, as Fallbrook scored at will. Chelsea Moore added two more goals to complete the hat trick, and her sister, Katie, later scored as well. Jackie Eskue, a defender, scored her first goal of the season. The Warriors went on to win, 9-0.

The victory secured Fallbrook a co-league championship.

“We were all pumped up because there were a lot of fans today,” said an excited Jamie Garcia.

Behind the veteran leadership of the seniors, the Warriors finished the regular season with a 20-4 record. “It’s been an amazing season. All the girls have been working really hard,” said Fallbrook head coach Kirsten Mueller. The Warriors will look to find success in the CIF playoffs.
