Diane McNutt, April 11, 1944 – Nov. 19, 2011, was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Hollywood area, attending and graduating from St. Mary’s Academy, an all girls’ school, in 1962. She enjoyed a career as an executive secretary for several large corporations in the Los Angeles area.
Twenty-three years ago, she met Don McNutt; they were married in 1988, and moved to Vista Valley Country Club. When Don retired from his favorite sport of golf in 2000, the couple moved to Fallbrook. Diane loved crafts and parties and it became natural for her to do publicity and decorations for events. She loved the challenge of working with a certain theme, and was highly imaginative.
Organizations to which she belonged (and that benefited from her creativity) included the Fallbrook Land Conservancy, Save Our Forest, Friends of the Library, and VFW.
Everyone who knew Diane will always remember her fun-loving approach to life and trademark light-hearted laugh. Diane’s daughter Jennifer fondly remembers her making candy and baking cookies for every excuse imaginable: holidays, church activities, and teachers’ birthdays.
Besides her husband Don, Diane is survived by her daughter Jennifer (spouse John) Harrison of San Clemente, granddaughter Kaitlyn and grandson Cory; also her son Jeff of Maui, Hawaii, and grandsons Trevor and Blaine.
Diane was very close to Don’s two daughters who live in Oregon: Eileen McNutt (husband Tim) and sons Keenan, Kyler and Rob; Katie McNutt (partner Hal) and children Megan and Brian. Diane is also survived by a sister, Gloria of Loveland, Colo; and “Favorite Aunt” Betty of Denver, Colo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Save Our Forest organization, P.O. Box 2701, Fallbrook, CA 92088-2701.
Burial will be private at the Rose Hills Cemetery in the McNutt family plot.
