Robinson reaches CIF tennis finals

Fallbrook High School junior Monica Robinson reached the CIF individual tennis finals before falling to Rancho Bernardo junior Jana McCord in the Nov. 18 match at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

McCord, who lost no sets during the 2011 high school season and gave Robinson her only previous defeat in a set during CIF play, earned a 6-2 victory in the first set which concluded with a 32-point game and then won the second set’s tiebreaking game after each player won six games in that set. The match ended two hours after it began.
