Re: 'California here we go' [Letter, Village News, 12/8/2011]

The recent letter to the editor from Jim Lowery contained enough factual errors that I felt compelled to respond.

First, California is not “steadily losing residents”. According to a report released Dec. 7, 2011 by the California Dept. of Finance, “Overall, the state’s population grew by 0.7 percent to a total of 37.5 million people between July 2010 and July 2011.”

Secondly, California’s home prices reflect the demand of the marketplace. The mantra of “location, location, location” refers to regions as well as neighborhoods. Homes in South Dakota are very affordable.
