FALLBROOK – A new student fee, member decals, and a spring fundraiser are among plans in the works for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s (FLC) annual membership drive to be launched in January.
The “2012: Year of the Member” campaign will also include email marketing and offer through the FLC’s website a greater variety of payment options, announced Megan Gamble, membership chair for the non-profit group.
To help kick-off the campaign, a new donation drop box was also recently installed at the entrance to the walking trail at Los Jilgueros Preserve, one of nine nature preserves maintained by the FLC.
The FLC offers various levels of annual memberships starting at $35. A new discounted student fee will cost $10 and is designed to support volunteerism in the schools as well as to attract younger members, explained Gamble.
Donations by credit card and PayPal will also be accepted for the first time on the group’s website. In addition, both new and renewing members will receive a “member” decal promoting the organization’s logo and website. While the decals are intended to thank members for their support, Gamble hopes they will also help raise public awareness of the FLC.
“Whenever I’m out on the trails I make it a point to ask people I meet along the way if they are members of the FLC,” said Mike Peters, executive director and preserve manager. “I’m always surprised to hear them say, ‘I thought this preserve was owned and managed by the County of San Diego.’ We need everybody using our preserves to be members of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy and to be good stewards of our open space.”
