Hughey pleased with playing time as college freshman

Miami University played 22 National Collegiate Athletic Association field hockey matches during 2011, and freshman Lauren Hughey played in 20 of them.

"It was a really great learning experience, and I like it a lot," Hughey said. "I didn't even know what to expect, but I'm happy with what I ended up doing."

Hughey didn't expect to play in 20 games as a freshman, but RedHawks coach Inako Puzo didn't limit playing time to Miami's more experienced players. "It was nice that the coach gave all of us an opportunity, all of the freshmen an opportunity," Hughey said.
