Hotline established for public to report suspected corruption

SAN DIEGO - On Jan. 9, San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis announced a new Public Corruption Hotline had been established for the public to call in with tips that may lead to investigations or prosecutions similar to the South Bay public corruption bribery and perjury case involving school board members, the former superintendent of the Sweetwater Union High School District and a contractor.

“Public integrity investigations are – by their nature – tedious, lengthy and secret,” Dumanis said. “We proceed carefully on these cases and often, the public isn’t aware of the work we’re doing behind the scenes. Information from the public is one way these investigations first come to our attention.”

The Public Corruption Hotline number is (619) 531-4000 and should only be used to report possible corruption at public agencies in San Diego County. The public may leave a confidential message, which will be returned by investigative staff within one week.
