Nurses, Therapists at County Hospital Plan One-Day Strike

RIVERSIDE - Nurses, surgical technicians, respiratory therapists and other workers at Riverside County Regional Medical Center plan a one-day strike to protest the county's recent imposition of a new contract that requires them to pay more into their own pension plans, it was announced today.

The county employees, all members of Service Employees International Union Local 721, will stage a work stoppage at the Moreno Valley hospital on Jan. 31. The number of staffers planning to take part wasn't disclosed.

Calls and emails to the county for a response were not immediately answered.
