'Branson on the Road' schedules two shows at Mission Theatre

FALLBROOK - After over 20 years of performing at the top theatres in Branson, Mo. on Country Music Boulevard, the national touring group, ‘Branson on the Road’ will appear at Fallbrook’s Mission Theatre, 231 Main Ave., on Feb. 18, in two performances - at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with tickets now on sale.

“’Branson on the Road’ takes concert goers back to the glory of days of the

Grand Ole Opry, and the Louisiana Hayride traveling shows,” said booking chairperson Dave Aranda-Richards. “The show is void of current overproduced music, special effects, with performers singing to tracks, as is now the norm.”

“All generations will be entertained with performers in rhinestone costumes, performing hilarious comedy, classic country, bluegrass, rockabilly and gospel music,” said Aranda-Richards. “Concert goers are taken back to yesteryear with banjos, fiddles, mandolins, guitars and a standup slap bass.”

Heading the line up of performers is Donnie Wright, who has appeared countless times on the Grand Ole Opry, The Pine Mountain Jamboree and headlined shows at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, Nev. He was recently nominated for a Lifetime Honor Award by the National Endowments of the Arts in Washington, DC based on his 40+ years of Ozark-borne music performances and writing.

Debbie Horton, who plays lead guitar and vocals, has the distinction of being Johnny Cash’s only female lead guitarist. She hosted her own Branson show for years at the Old Boxcar Willie Theatre. An accomplished songwriter, her music has been recorded by Wanda Jackson, Jan Howard, Norma Jean, and many other well known country singers.

Brian Capps, who plays upright bass and performs vocals ala Marty Robbins style currently has a recording in the top 10 of the Americana Charts on XM Radio.

Russ Summers, president of Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce said, “We are proud to have Branson on the Road as our only traveling ambassadors for Branson. If you can’t come to Branson this year, we are happy to be bringing Branson to you; it is their only appearance on the West Coast this year.”
