Valentine's Winemaker Dinner set for Feb. 12 at La Caseta

Those in search of a beautifully prepared, sumptuous Valentine’s dinner to share with a loved one or friend need look no further than La Caseta restaurant in Fallbrook. On Sunday evening, Feb. 12, owner/chef Delos Eyer will present a five course meal fit for royalty.

Eyer has outdone himself on the development of this special menu and has paired fine choices of Fallbrook Winery wines with each course.

Diners will begin with Ensalada Caesar con Cameron Grande, which consists of a crisp Caesar salad accented with grilled, marinated jumbo prawns. Paired with the starter will be Fallbrook Winery Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (2011).

Gourmet aficionados will be amazed with the second course, Caldo de Calabaza y Coco – a soup made of creamy butternut squash, roast pepper and coconut cream. Fallbrook winery’s Sleepy Hollow Chardonnay (2010) will accompany the course.

An Herb Crusted Stuffed Pork Loin will be the savory third course. Tender roast pork loin will be stuffed with Queso Asadero and sautéed spinach and topped with smoky Salsa Roja. The pork will be served over creamy sweet corn polenta, a wonderful taste combination that will be complemented by the serving of Fallbrook Winery’s 33* North Estate Sangiovese (2009).

The fourth course will be a showcase presentation of Torre de Filet Mignon. Eyer will use a petite filet of beef and serve it atop layers of scalloped potatoes, Portobello mushroom, roast peppers and onions. The filet will be dressed with an Ancho Cabernet Demi Glace. Accompanying this will be Fallbrook Winery’s 33* North Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Clone Four (2009).

The grand finale will be a decadent Mexican Chocolate Pot of Cream. Valentines will savor this rich and silky dark chocolate pudding blended with hints of cinnamon, chile, espresso and kahlua. The luscious treat will be topped with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate.
