Driver severely injured in road-race crash; driver of pick-up sought

VALLEY CENTER - A 51-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries Feb. 7 shortly after 2 p.m. when he crashed his sports car off a rural North County road, apparently while racing another motorist.

The driver of the silver 2008 Chevrolet Corvette lost control while speeding to the south alongside a tan or dark-colored compact pickup truck on Valley Center Road, north of Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
