Marine who was fatally shot had crashed his SUV through school gate

SAN CLEMENTE (Wire Service) - Authorities today (Feb. 9) released the name of a Camp Pendleton-based Marine who was fatally shot by an Orange County sheriff's deputy in the parking lot of San Clemente High School earlier this week.

Manny Levi Loggins, 31, was shot about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, after crashing a sport-utility vehicle through a gate in the school's parking lot, said Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
